The Butterfly Cut ~ the most searched hair trend of 2023!
We’re kicking this off with the biggest hair trend of summer 2023 and probably for the entire year: the butterfly haircut. The natural evolution of the trends of the past 4 years, from the shag, to the octopus, to the wolf cut, this long, layered look has been searched at a rate of 90,233%! This look features a shorter, cropped look up top with feathery layers teased out with volume and chin-length face-framing pieces. It’s essentially a mermaid beach hairstyle and length but with loads of dimension, texture and layers.
Jennifer Lopez herself even kicked off the trend early last December before anyone else did, as seen in the promo for her “Shotgun Wedding” movie.

The Reverse Money Piece
Chances are you know all about the “money piece” haircolor or extensions placement trend where you have lighter face-framing pieces towards the front of your hairline. The look became very popular for its ability to draw the eye to the face and really brighten your completion. This year however the trend has flipped! Instead of 90s blonde highlights to frame the face, the all over color look IS blonde with darker pieces to frame the face. Ranging from simply a darker shade of blonde to even pops of color, the look is a little edgier and “fun” for summer. It’s also a fun way to experiment with a haircolor change up without fearing hating it with an all over color. The trendmaker of this look? Miley Cyrus!
