With summer come to a close, heads turn to longer styles and richer, warmer color tones. Though this shift has always been a bit of a standard, this year the trending hairstyle for fall are characterized by a desire to have something low-maintenance. Long layers are back, so are shags, but also buns, braids and the biggest of blowouts. We rounded up our top three favorite trends clients will be looking for this fall!
Big, Bouncy “Texas Hair”
Big hair has been back since last year! So named after the state in which “everything is bigger”, Beyonce’s statement making huge volume hair and cowboy core fashion made headlines in a big way. It is characterized by loads of root lifted volume, teased lengths and ends, and a whole lot of natural body and wave. This particular style lends itself to a good old fashion blowout, so gear up because fall/winter 2024 is aiming for a lot of brush and blow dryer work. Just make sure to use ergonomic versions of both to protect your hands.
The Cowgirl Cut
The shag endures, but it continues to evolve! One of the reasons for its staying power is that it creates such beautiful dimensional texture. Done well, it’s a statement making style that is low maintenance with regular trims and debulking. What’s different with the latest trending version? It’s simply grown out! Longer lengths past the shoulders and is an ideal fun and trending style for clients who want to grow their hair out for winter from shorter, lighter summer styles.
Curtain Bangs
When it comes to face framing styles, nothing works better to make cheeks and eyes pop than fun and low maintenance wispy curtain bangs. They’re incredibly popular this year on celebrities and on TikTok and are easy to grow out if clients decide to make a change. For the cut to work, it needs to be graduated, shorter in the middle and longer on the sides. The styling is key to stay structured and composed: blow dryer plus a leave-in conditioner or serum followed by hairspray to keep the look sleek and refined. If your client has curls and cowlicks, it will be important that they dry and style on freshly washed, wet hair.
